What is Resilience?

It is the property of material that it can store energy. Mainly strain energy, the maximum strain energy stored in the body per unit volume are known as modules of resilience.

Strain energy- The work done in straining the material, within the elastic limit is known as strain energy. It is an elastic body is subjected to increase direct load, the deformation is proportional to the load applied upto limit of proportionality. The load deformation curve will be a straight line which are shown below.
Resilience- MEC
 Work done due to gradually applied load W will be equal to shaded area.

:. Strain Energy = LOAD × DEFLECTION/2
                             =W × WL
                                  2AE

                            =W^2 ×l
                                2AE

   Resilience       = f^2 ×Volume
                                2E
